2027: Dan Ulasi — PDP Presidency Should Be Micro-Zoned to Southeast

Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has said that if fairness and honesty prevail within the party, its 2027 presidential ticket should be micro-zoned to the Southeast.

Ulasi argued that although the PDP had officially zoned its presidential ticket to the South, equity requires that the Southeast be given priority since it remains the only southern zone yet to produce a president in the current democratic era.

“The party has zoned the presidency to the South, and if there is honesty, they should micro-zone it to the Southeast” Ulasi stated.

“We are the only zone, theoretically, that has not produced a president under this dispensation. The Northeast also falls into this category” he added.

On who might emerge as the PDP’s flagbearer in 2027, the party chieftain declined to make predictions, stressing that such matters are best left to God.

“I’ll answer that question by saying only God knows whether PDP will produce the president in 2027. Only God knows who will even be alive tomorrow morning,” he said.

His comments come as the PDP intensifies efforts to reposition itself and reportedly explores the possibility of bringing back former President Goodluck Jonathan and Labour Party’s 2023 candidate, Peter Obi, as potential contenders in the next presidential race.
