The Minister of Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has denied allegations that he directed telecom companies in Nigeria to interfere with their networks during nationwide protests that began on Thursday.
As protests erupted, Nigerians using MTN, Airtel, and other networks reported unusually slow browsing speeds, leading to suspicions that Chief Bola Tinubu administration had ordered telecoms to hamper the protests.
Appearing on Channels TV, he stated, “There’s no instruction to tamper with [phone] networks.”
Moreover, Tijani also condemned the looting of the National Communication Commission (NCC) building in Kano State, describing it as a setback to the federal government’s efforts to encourage youth employment through technology.
