Minimum Wage Can’t Buy Bag Of Rice; Don’t Rejoice Over N70000—Israel Joe

A Niger Delta human rights activist, Israel Joe, has told Nigerian workers not to rejoice over the increment of minimum wage to N70,000.

Comrade Joe made this outburst in a statement sent to newsmen in Warri, Delta State

Recall that Bola Tinubu on Thursday approved the sum of N70, 000 as the new minimum Wage.

He expressed sadness that a country with so much wealth would have to pay its workforce a minimum wage of less than $50 (dollars).

He further added that if ₦70,000, minimum wage is good for civil servants, it should also be good for politicians.

In his words, “Our workers have finally settled for servitude and slavery.

“My simple opinion is that the minimum wage can’t even purchase a bag of rice and we should not joy over what we should sorrow over,” he added.
