The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has said that the security agencies are ready to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the off-season elections in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states on Saturday.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, Matawalle said that the military and other security forces will be on alert to prevent any violence or disruption of the electoral process.
The Minister said that he will personally monitor the situation in the three states from his office in Abuja and that the public can contact him or the military if they encounter any security challenge.

He urged the residents and the electorate in the three states to exercise their civic rights without fear and to cooperate with the security agencies to maintain law and order.
He also warned anyone who plans to cause trouble or incite violence during the elections to desist from such acts or face the full wrath of the law.
He expressed confidence that the elections will be free, fair, and credible and that the will of the people will prevail.
