How Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Justice Spent N403 Million in One Day to Renovate Toilets – Report

A report from the public payments portal, Govspend, has shown that the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Justice under the Attorney-General, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, spent N403million on renovating toilets in one day.

On June 27, 2024, N158 million was spent on renovating the toilets at the Federal Ministry of Justice headquarters.

On the same day, N245 million was paid to Optional Concepts Limited for additional toilet renovations.

Altogether, N403 million was spent on toilet renovations in a single day.

This hefty amount could have been used to renovate 66 blocks of three classrooms each, with each block costing N6.1 million, according to government records on the GovSpend platform.

Alternatively, the same funds could have been used to build 51 solar-powered boreholes, as each borehole requires N7.8 million.
