A recent social media post by Dada Olusegun, the special assistant to President Bola Tinubu on social media, has been debunked as fake news. The post claimed that Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, had donated N15 million to the son of the late Afrobeats artiste, MohBad.
The credit alert shared by Olusegun suggested that Seyi Tinubu had made a generous donation to support the late singer’s child. However, an investigation into the matter has revealed that this claim is false.
In the midst of this, Japhet Omojuwa, a close associate of Mr. Seyi Tinubu, has shed light on the situation. He stated that he, along with Mr. Seyi and their mutual friends, as well as MohBad’s colleagues, are planning a sustainable support system for the late artiste’s child. They aim to do this while steering clear of any potential political fallout that might arise from their actions.
“Seyi Tinubu did not make a donation of N15m to Mohbad’s child or family. I am privy to this information because I have been in talks with him about this matter for several days,” Mr. Omojuwa posted on his X page.
He advised against getting entangled in social media controversies as any action or statement could be politicized. He further emphasized that despite this, the welfare of the family, especially the child, should be prioritized.
Mr. Omojuwa further elaborated, “He (Seyi Tinubu) agreed to fund the child’s education and provide immediate support to the wife. However, we were aware that these actions could potentially be used against him in a political context.”
