The presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi has lamented the level of insecurity going on in Nigeria.
He stressed that if the insecurity is left unchecked will consume the entire citizen of Nigeria.
His outburst comes following the kidnap of a member representing Onitsha North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Justice Azuka, on Wednesday in Onitsha.
In a post shared on his official X handle, Obi revealed that Justice Azuka arrived Onitsha to celebrate the Christmas season with his family when he was kidnapped.
Obi commended the effort of Nigerians who are ensuring that there is adequate security of lives and properties in the country.
He further appealed to the security agencies to ensure the release of Justice Azuka and arrest of the perpetrators of such evil act.
His post reads,”Media reports, yesterday confirmed the kidnapping of a member representing Onitsha North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Justice Azuka, in Onitsha, our commercial city.
” The honourable member was just arriving in Onitsha to celebrate the Christmas season with his family when the assailants struck. As I have always continued to warn, if left unchecked, the monster of insecurity will consume all of us.
“These merchants of terror are becoming emboldened in their criminal acts, and if not stopped, no one will be spared. I sincerely appreciate everyone on the frontline of ensuring the security of lives and property in Nigeria. We must now, however, make more efforts and sacrifices to conquer this monster of insecurity.
“I appeal to the security agencies to ensure that Hon Justice Azuka is safely rescued and reunited with his family and that the perpetrators of the crime are arrested and punished.”
