A man of 23 years, named Akaninyene Sunday Isaac, is under arrest on suspicion of the murder of his mother, Christiana Sunday Isaac, who was 55 years old. The alleged crime took place in Oruk Uso Otoro village, located in the Abak Local Government Area.
According to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, the suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he committed the act out of frustration after being starved of food for three days.
The spokesperson for the police stated that Isaac admitted to murdering his mother using a machete due to her not feeding him for more than three days.
Isaac was quoted by MacDon as saying, “I inflicted severe injuries on her with a machete, which resulted in her death.” He added that Isaac would be brought to court once the investigation is concluded.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
