Subscribers of major telecommunications companies, including MTN, Glo, 9mobile, and Airtel, experienced significant network disruptions on Thursday amid nationwide protests against the hardships under chief Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Nigerians took to the streets in defiance of Tinubu’s appeal and threats of a clampdown by security agencies, protesting the escalating cost of living and soaring food prices.
Protesters faced significant communication challenges due to poor internet services provided by the telecom companies.
None of the telecom companies have provided explanations for the service interruptions during the ongoing protests.
Earlier in the week, MTN had closed its outlets nationwide after irate customers attacked its Lagos office on Monday. The angry crowd breached the office’s iron fence.
