Muslim Fulani Terrorists Kill 25 Christians in 12 Days in Nigeria — CBN Report

In the past 12 days, 25 Christians have been brutally killed as violence against Christians in Nigeria continues to escalate, according to reports from Christian Broadcasting Network.

Nigeria remains one of the most dangerous countries in the world for Christians, according to Open Doors’ 2025 World Watch List. Out of 4,476 Christians recently killed worldwide for their faith, 3,100—or 69 percent—occurred in Nigeria.

These numbers reflect the widespread killing, abductions, and destruction in the country. Thousands of people have witnessed family members or neighbors murdered, while many others have seen their churches, homes, and farmlands set on fire.

Just last week, Fulani herdsmen, a Muslim ethnic group, killed two Christians in Nasarawa state and two others in Plateau state, following the slaughter of 11 Christians earlier in the week, Morning Star News reports.

The attackers also raided a village in Keana County during the night, killing two Christians and abducting another.

“Keana Local Government Area is no longer safe,” said Musa Adamu, a village resident. “Our peaceful home, where we enjoyed all the comforts, has been turned into a den of armed bandits. Prior to Thursday night’s attack, there was a kidnapping case in the Giza community, where a husband and wife were kidnapped from their house, and up till this moment, there’s no news on their whereabouts.”

On the same night, Fulani herdsmen killed two Christians and 11 others in central Plateau state, including coordinated attacks in Riyom, sources told Morning Star News.

Reports indicate that the violence has been relentless, leaving Nigeria’s Middle Belt strewn with the bodies of slain Christians.

Rev. Simon Nbach of Flaming Fire Ministry in Anwule, Benue state, was among 10 Christians killed by Fulani herdsmen on Nov. 3. During the attacks, the extremists also burned a Catholic Church building and destroyed dozens of homes.

Village resident Ojay Ojonya told Morning Star News that he lost relatives in the assault.

“Lord, please come to our aid,” he pleaded.

In Kaduna state, hundreds mourned seven Christians, including a 12-year-old boy, killed in a recent attack.

“We have laid to rest seven of our beloved Christians who were killed by terrorists and Fulani herdsmen,” said area resident Daniel Dodo. “The funeral is a ceremony of tears being shed by Christians in the midst of deliberate violence against us because of our Christian faith.”

The victims were Yohanna Adamu, 46; Bala Bude Chawai, 57; Yakubu Bala, 50; Abubakar Ya’u, 30; Ishaya Dauda, 56; Monday Nveneh, 46; and Savior Emmanuel, 12, according to Morning Star News.

“This funeral has become a powerful display of unity, faith, and shared resilience for Christians,” Dodo added. “Families wept, neighbors embraced, and prayers filled the air as hundreds gathered to honor the Christian victims, innocent lives taken too soon, but never forgotten.”

Since 2009, 52,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria. One of the deadliest attacks occurred this past summer, when around 200 Christians were killed over two days in Yelwata, a farming community in Guma County, Benue State, by heavily armed Fulani jihadists.

Micheel Odeh James of Truth Nigeria told CBN News that Benue State is predominantly Christian, and Yelwata was home to many internally displaced persons fleeing prior attacks.

“We are about 6 to 7 million Nigerians living in Benue, and over 97% of them are Christians. They are Baptists, they are Methodists, they are Catholics. Militants set fire to their buildings as people slept, and attacked with machetes anyone who tried to flee,” James recounted.

He described the scene as a gruesome “genocidal massacre,” adding, “[It was] not just slaughtering, not just macheting, [but] they locked some people up…and then doused them with gasoline and then set them ablaze. Babies were burned.”

According to the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom of Belief (APPG), millions of Muslim Fulani reside in Nigeria and across the Sahel region. While most Fulani do not hold extremist views, some subscribe to radical Islamist ideologies.

“They adopt a comparable strategy to Boko Haram and ISWAP (Islamic State in West Africa Province) and demonstrate a clear intent to target Christians and potent symbols of Christian identity,” the APPG report states.

Although the attacks were once concentrated in Nigeria’s north-central zone, the violence is now spreading south. A World Watch List report notes the emergence of a new jihadist group, Lakurawa, in the northwest, equipped with advanced weaponry and a radical Islamist agenda.

President Donald Trump recently designated Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern and threatened to halt aid or impose sanctions if the government does not better protect Christians. He warned that the U.S. might provide military assistance, stating on Truth Social, “If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians!”

According to Intersociety, a Nigerian human rights organization, over 7,000 Christians were massacred in the first 220 days of the year alone.
