Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has firmly dismissed rumours that her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, will run for the presidency in the 2027 elections.
During a recent visit by the Greater Igbo Forum (GIF) Worldwide in Abuja, Dame Jonathan clarified that her husband, having held numerous significant political positions such as local government chairman, deputy governor, governor, vice president, and president, has no further political ambitions.
She added that he is now focused on supporting the current president and promoting national unity.
“My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What is he looking for again? We are not going in again,” she said.
Dame Jonathan emphasized the importance of supporting the current administration to ensure national peace and progress.
She also urged the Igbo community to come together in unity, prioritizing the collective good over personal or political differences.
“We should love this country more than ourselves. Because if you don’t love this country, what is the future of our children?” she queried.
She also urged the Igbo community to set aside politics and work towards unity and development.
Her words: “Let us manage one another. Let us love ourselves. Let us be united and be our brother’s keepers.”
