My Life Got Better After Mohbad’s Death – Father

According to Joseph Aloba, the father of the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad, his life significantly improved after his son’s untimely death.

On September 11, 2023, Mohbad passed away under dubious circumstances at the age of 26.

Mr. Aloba reflected on the improvements in his life and attributed them to divine intervention and the spirit of his late son in an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, commonly known as Mrlilgaga, that was released on Tuesday.

“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend. He had it in plan to do many things for me but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together that began to send people to assist me,” he said.

He revealed that compassionate Nigerians had gifted him various assets, including a car and truck. “Everything I have now, including the car, was given to me by people. It’s beyond ordinary—this is the spirit of Mohbad and God moving them to bless me,” he said.

Aloba also spoke about the challenges his late son, Mohbad, faced before his death, emphasizing how his plans were frequently obstructed.

He accused Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, and her family of controlling much of the singer’s property. “They have possession of all his landed property. Even the land he bought for me to build a church—I had to pressure him to buy it and mould blocks for construction. That same land was later used to bury him,” he disclosed.

Aloba recounted how the singer had planned to purchase a house for him after completing a music tour, noting that the payment for the property was made before his untimely passing.

Reflecting on his life journey, Aloba shared that the late singer birth marked a significant turning point. After money from Mohbad’s naming ceremony was stolen, Aloba became a singer, with Mohbad joining as a backup vocalist at just one-year-old.

Now a carpenter, singer, and pastor without a physical church, Aloba recalled that the late singer had promised to build him a church—a dream left unfulfilled by his sudden demise.

Since his death Aloba has released nine tracks and received support from Nigerians.
