My Predecessor Doesn’t Pressure Me, Governor Umo Eno Reveals

In a Christmas Day celebration, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, stating that he has not felt any pressure since assuming office seven months ago.

Governor Eno, speaking in Mr. Emmanuel’s hometown, Awa Iman, commended his predecessor’s principles and lifestyle, declaring, “You will always be my leader, and I will always be your student.”

Governor Eno’s sentiments were shared during a Christmas church service at the United Evangelical Church, emphasizing the bond between Mr. Emmanuel and his village church. The former governor highlighted his tradition of returning to his village every Christmas, a practice maintained even during his tenure as a general manager at Zenith Bank.

Mr. Emmanuel, reflecting on his relationship with Governor Eno, affirmed their unity and commitment to collaboration beyond the current term. “The governor and I are united. Any support I can offer him, I will,” he asserted. Acknowledging the challenges of governing Akwa Ibom, Mr. Emmanuel emphasized the need for patience, stating, “Achievements take time. And I am here to support, not to disrupt.”

Governor Eno reciprocated the goodwill, promising to join Mr. Emmanuel in Christmas celebrations in the years to come. He expressed deep gratitude for his predecessor’s mentorship, stating, “You shaped us all… I’ll be grateful for your guidance.”
