The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) USA has strongly condemned recent comments by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which it describes as anti-democratic and threatening towards Peter Obi.
Morka’s statement, alleging that “Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times and has it coming to him whatever he gets,” was labeled by NADECO as a “calculated and menacing” act designed to incite harm and intimidate Obi, a prominent leader and Labour Party presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 elections.
The organization emphasized that such remarks undermine democratic principles and seek to stifle dissent.
NADECO USA further condemned Morka’s baseless claim that Mr. Obi left no legacy as Anambra State governor, describing it as an attempt to diminish the recognized achievements in governance, fiscal responsibility, and infrastructural development under his tenure.
The statement partly reads, “NADECO USA unequivocally condemns the anti-democratic, appalling, and dangerous statement made by Mr. Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, against Mr. Peter Obi, the Labor Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election and a prominent opposition leader in Nigeria.”
“Morka’s inflammatory remarks—‘Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times and has it coming to him whatever he gets’—are nothing short of a calculated and menacing call to incite harm and intimidation against Mr. Obi. Such reckless and unguarded words betray a deliberate attempt to stifle dissent and intimidate one of the leading voices of democratic reform in Nigeria.”
