NAFDAC Issues Alert on Counterfeit Arla Dano Milk Powder Circulating

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a warning to Nigerians regarding the presence of counterfeit Arla Dano 14g sachet full cream milk powder in circulation across major cities in the country.

The alert, communicated by Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director-General of NAFDAC, highlights that investigations by the TG Arla Dairy Product Enterprise company, the holder of the certificate of registration, have revealed the widespread availability of these fake products in various markets.

The counterfeit products in question are identified by batch numbers 7A08016:01 and 8A0306:36, with corresponding expiry dates of May 2024 and February 2024.

NAFDAC has directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to conduct thorough surveillance and initiate efforts to remove the counterfeited milk powder from the market.

Adeyeye stated, “NAFDAC implores distributors, retailers, and consumers to exercise caution and vigilance to avoid consuming, selling, or distributing counterfeit products.

“The products’ authenticity and physical condition should be carefully checked,” the statement reads.

“Anyone possessing the counterfeit Arla Dano 14g full cream milk powder is advised to submit stock to the nearest NAFDAC office.

“Suppose you, or someone you know, have consumed this product or suffered any adverse reaction/event after consumption. In that case, you are advised to seek immediate medical advice from a qualified healthcare professional.”

Furthermore, consumers who have consumed the counterfeit product or experienced any adverse reactions are advised to seek immediate medical advice from qualified healthcare professionals.

NAFDAC encourages individuals to report any adverse events or side effects related to the consumption of unwholesome packaged food products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
