NAFDAC Seals Supermarket in Ibadan for Selling Fake Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has shut down a supermarket in Ibadan, known as PINNACLE, situated in the Dugbe area.

This action was taken due to suspicions of the supermarket selling counterfeit products. Consequently, PINNACLE has redirected its customers to its branch in Challenge following the regulatory agency’s closure.

A staff member from NAFDAC, speaking anonymously to DAILY POST on Friday, disclosed that the agency’s enforcement unit was responsible for sealing the supermarket.

The owner had previously been summoned but failed to comply with the invitation, leading to the agency’s decision to seal the establishment.

In a telephone conversation with DAILY POST, the source confirmed, “Yes, NAFDAC has sealed the supermarket.”

“The enforcement unit came from Lagos to seal it. They had earlier invited the owner but she refused to appeal. You know that NAFDAC does not just seal premises, they have invited her but she did not show up.

“The enforcement unit (which) came from Lagos can go anywhere to seal premises. They can go to the North or the South. It is not the Ibadan office that sealed it. By Monday, you will get full details.”
