100 Level NSUK Student Commits Suicide Amidst Deep Emotional Struggles, Depression

21-year-old Maikeffi Redemption Sarah, a 100-level Microbiology student at Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi, reportedly took her own life by consuming a poisonous substance. The tragic event unfolded on Friday evening at an off-campus lodge near the Family and Friends Hotel area, opposite the university.

According to reports, deep emotions and depression are believed to have driven Sarah to this devastating decision. She was the fourth and last born in her family, and her untimely demise has left the university community in shock.

The news was confirmed by a male friend of the deceased who posted about her death on Facebook. Expressing his grief, he mentioned, “We spoke with her Thursday evening, and she was to come to Akwanga from Keffi, attend a wedding today Saturday, then go back tomorrow Sunday, just for me to hear of her sudden death.”

Efforts to intervene and save Sarah were made by some students and neighbors who tried to administer palm oil, but tragically, their attempts proved futile. The lifeless body of the young student has been deposited at the mortuary in Keffi.

A relative of the deceased shared on Facebook that Sarah would be laid to rest today, Saturday, in Akwanga, her hometown.
