Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and legal luminary, Monday Ubani, has urged Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to acknowledge her misstep and tender an apology for her recent outburst in the Senate chambers.
During a Senate session, the senator was involved in a heated confrontation, raising concerns about decorum and parliamentary procedure.

Ubani described her actions—characterized by shouting and disrupting proceedings—as inappropriate and detrimental to the institution she represents.
While recognizing the right of every senator, including Akpoti-Uduaghan, to a fair hearing and the opportunity to voice concerns, he questioned whether her approach was the most appropriate.
He emphasized that Senate rules exist to maintain order and dignity, warning that disregarding them in favor of disorderly conduct could set a dangerous precedent across institutions.

“If her new seating arrangement will genuinely obstruct her visibility in the chambers as she alleged, was there no more civil and procedural way to address the issue?” Ubani asked.
He also criticized her response in a subsequent interview with Berekete Family Radio, stating that it reflected “an exaggerated sense of entitlement rather than a constructive pursuit of justice.”
Drawing a comparison to a similar incident involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the tenure of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Ubani recalled how Akpabio, after understanding the rationale for seat rearrangement, offered an apology to his colleagues. In contrast, he noted Akpoti-Uduaghan’s continued combative stance both during and after the incident, arguing that this demonstrated a lack of respect for Senate procedures.
Ubani warned that failing to adhere to parliamentary protocols could reduce her effectiveness as a lawmaker.
He advised the senator to reconsider her actions, embrace humility, and apologize to the Senate. “Those rallying behind her now may not stand with her in times of true need,” he added
