EXCLUSIVE: Senator Natasha Files N100 Billion Sexual Harassment Suit Against Senate President Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi-North Senatorial District, has filed a N100 billion lawsuit against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, alleging sexual harassment, defamation, and targeted intimidation.

The lawsuit, filed in a Federal High Court, accused Akpabio of orchestrating a campaign to undermine her reputation and legislative influence.

In her statement of claim as obtained by Parallel Facts, Senator Natasha detailed a series of incidents she described as acts of harassment, including the abrupt reassignment of her Senate seat without prior notice, public humiliation during Senate sessions, and defamatory remarks allegedly orchestrated by Akpabio’s legislative aide on social media.

“The Claimant avers that the Claimant’s friend and business partner in the United States of America queried the Claimant’s activities and wondered whether the Claimant was seducing her Senator colleagues in the Senate by her dressing as claimed by the 3rd Defendant.

“The Claimant further avers that her prospective partner abroad who read the publication as it continues to increase viewership called the Claimant to decline a partnership agreement it was about to sign with the Claimant based on the claimant’s proposal and legislative activities and project in her Constituency.

“The Claimant avers that other members of the public sees the Claimant as only a beauty and fashionista who only goes to the Chambers to use her dressing to seduce and distract other Senators and colleagues.

“The Claimant avers that her estimation, dignity, and reputation have greatly been injured and impugned upon by the publication of the Defendants.

“The Claimant avers that irreparable injuries have been caused to the Claimant’s reputation and her record, especially the most recent award “the best Senator of the Year” given to her by Thisday newspapers.

“The Claimant avers that the intention of the Defendants is to deliberately injure and malign the Claimant’s hard-earned reputation and lower the Claimant’s estimation in the eyes of right-thinking members of the society by publicizing same on social media where it will be seen by the whole world,” the document partly read.

The remarks suggested that the Senator was more focused on her appearance than her legislative duties, insinuations she claims were meant to damage her reputation and professional standing.

According to court documents, the dispute escalated after Senator Natasha was removed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content in 2024, a position she claims she lost due to Akpabio’s “overbearing tendencies.”

She further alleges that she faced continuous intimidation, including exclusion from key international conferences and Senate committees, forcing her to personally fund her official trips.

In a particularly controversial incident, the Senator recounted how her seat in the Senate Chambers was reassigned without her knowledge.

When she sought clarification, Akpabio allegedly ordered the sergeant-at-arms to forcibly remove her, an action she described as “unparliamentary” and intended to demean her publicly.

The lawsuit also highlights defamatory comments made on social media by Akpabio’s legislative aide, which ridiculed her appearance and questioned her competence as a lawmaker.

The post, which went viral, claimed she was more interested in “pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits” than contributing to legislative discussions. Senator Natasha argues that these comments were designed to damage her credibility, diminish her achievements, and portray her as unprofessional.

Senator Natasha, who was recently awarded the prestigious “Best Senator of the Year 2025” by THISDAY Newspapers and Arise TV, contends that the defamatory remarks have severely impacted her personal and professional life.

According to her statement, the incident led to the loss of a lucrative business partnership abroad and has subjected her to public ridicule.

She claims the actions were not only defamatory but also targeted at undermining her legislative career due to her gender and outspokenness.

The lawsuit demands:

  1. A public apology and retraction of the defamatory statements published on social media.
  2. N100 billion in damages for defamation, emotional distress, and injury to her reputation.
  3. N300 million in legal fees for the cost of the action.
  4. A perpetual injunction preventing Akpabio and his aide from making further defamatory statements against her.
