Navy Foils Drug Smuggling Attempt, Arrests Suspect

In a recent operation, the Nigerian Navy intercepted a large shipment of narcotics and apprehended a suspect along the Badagry waterways. The interception, carried out by the NNS BEECROFT patrol team, resulted in the seizure of 193 bags of cannabis sativa, weighing approximately 7,443 kilograms.

Commander NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Rafiu Oladejo, highlighted the pivotal role of the Maritime Domain Awareness Facility, Falcon Eye Alignment, in facilitating the successful operation. He emphasized the navy’s commitment to maintaining a robust presence along Lagos waterways to combat crime effectively.

The arrested suspect, identified as Mr. Asamani Emmanuel, was apprehended in connection with the illicit drug shipment. Commodore Oladejo issued a stern warning to individuals involved in such criminal activities, affirming the navy’s determination to pursue and prosecute offenders.

The seized narcotics, along with the suspect, were handed over to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Marine Command for further investigation and potential legal action.
