In a distressing incident, a student of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Imeri, identified as Jethro Onose, and his father, Maliki Onose, were abducted in the early hours of Monday while en route to the school following a three-week holiday period.

The incident occurred along a notorious route on the Edo and Ondo road, where armed assailants intercepted the two.

According to a source within the Navy school, the student and his father were ambushed and forcibly taken into the nearby bush.

“The man was conveying his son back to school in the early hours of today when the gun-wielding men waylaid them and marched them into the bush.

“The information got to us when we were preparing other students who earlier resumed their dormitories,” he revealed.

The news reached the school authorities as they were preparing for the return of students who had earlier resumed their dormitories.

The abduction was also confirmed by Oluyemi Fasipe, a prominent Ondo-based social activist, who shared the information on X, expressing concern over the safety of the victims.

Fasipe wrote on Monday, “Jethro Onose, an SS1 student of Navy School Imeri, and his father, Mr. Maliki Onose, have been kidnapped along the Edo/Ondo state route. Details are still sketchy.”

However, she assured that she would liaise with the relevant police personnel for further details.

“Please, give me more time i will reach out to the DPO in charge of the area for details,” she stated.
