The footage exposed an unauthorized solicitation of ₦5000 in exchange for expediting customs procedures.

In a statement earlier released today, the NCS stated it has verified that the implicated officer is indeed a member of the Nigeria Customs Service, specifically assigned to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Area Command.

Expressing strong condemnation for such unprofessional behavior, the NCS is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

A comprehensive investigation is currently underway to thoroughly scrutinize the incident, and appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the findings.

According to the service, “this conduct is deemed inconsistent with the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service, and the organization remains resolute in maintaining transparency and accountability in its operations.”

The statement further partly read, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident transpired at New Terminal, within the departure hall of Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos, and was captured on video by the involved passenger. The recording reveals an inappropriate request for ₦5000 in exchange for expeditious processing of customs procedures.

“We wish to confirm that the officer implicated is indeed a member of the Nigeria Customs Service, properly assigned to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Area Command.
