A woman, Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers State, for attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of cocaine to Iran.
According to a statement released on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, the suspect was intercepted on May 3, 2025, in the airport’s departure hall as she prepared to board a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha.

Obehi had disguised herself in a hijab in an effort to avoid detection, but further inspection revealed she had hidden cocaine in multiple locations — her private parts, her stomach, and a handbag with a false bottom.

The statement read, “During her search, she was found to have inserted three wraps of cocaine in her private part, and two large parcels hidden in false compartments of her handbag while she swallowed 67 pellets of the Class A drug.”
“As a result, she was placed under excretion observation and after four excretions that lasted days, she expelled the 67 wraps of the substance in her stomach.”
Babafemi noted that Obehi admitted she was instructed to swallow 70 pellets of cocaine, but after managing 67, she found it difficult to ingest the remaining three and opted to insert them instead.
He added that the total weight of all the cocaine found in her possession — across her body and handbag — amounted to 2.523 kilogrammes.
