Senator Ned Nwoko has dismissed allegations of domestic violence against his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, saying their marital challenges are instead caused by her alleged addiction to drugs and alcohol.
A video surfaced online at the weekend showing Daniels in tears, claiming she could no longer endure violence in her marriage and saying, “In Ned Nwoko’s house I am nothing, but in my own house I am a queen. Not again; I can’t stand the violence; it’s too much.”
The clip triggered outrage across social media, with many users accusing the senator of assault and demanding protection for the actress.
Responding on his official X account, Nwoko insisted he has never raised his hands on her and claimed her behaviour has worsened due to alleged substance abuse.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation programme, or I fear for her life and safety,” he wrote.

He alleged she turned violent in his absence, slapping and hitting staff members and damaging vehicles and windows within the residence.
“I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence. Regina is the violent one here, slapping and hitting 3 staff in the past 48 hours and destroying property, including cars and windows, for no just cause,” he said.
According to Nwoko, he offered to place her in a rehabilitation centre in Asokoro or abroad in Jordan, where she would be kept away from alleged suppliers.
He claimed she threatened a nurse who “exposed her drug abuse” and mentioned individuals named Sammy and Ann as those allegedly enabling her habits.
A video attached to his statement showed damaged parts of his home, including shattered glass and vandalised vehicles.
The controversy began after Daniels’ brother accused the senator of physical assault in an Instagram post, vowing to protect her from further harm.
Nwoko said his main concern is not public image but the safety of his wife and their family.
“I fear for her well-being if she does not continue her rehabilitation,” he added.
Regina Daniels has not yet responded to the allegations made by her husband at the time of filing this report.
