NEMA Denies Looting of Its Warehouse in Abuja, Ownership Linked To Federal Capital Territory Agriculture Department

Abuja

A representative from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has refuted media claims suggesting that its warehouse was looted by hoodlums in Abuja on Sunday, March 3.

NEMA’s spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, clarified in a statement that while a warehouse was indeed looted by hoodlums on Sunday, it is not affiliated with the agency in any manner.

Earlier reports from Politics Nigeria indicated that residents broke into a warehouse in the Karmo area of Abuja, pilfering foodstuff and other items stored within.

It has been revealed that the looted warehouse actually belongs to the Federal Capital Territory’s Department of Agriculture.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer for the FCT Agric Secretariat, Zakari Aliyu, acknowledged to journalists that the looted warehouse belonged to their agency but refrained from providing further details.

NEMA reiterated its commitment to safeguarding its facilities nationwide.

“To forestall any security breach at NEMA facilities, the Director General Mustapha Habib Ahmed has directed Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to strengthen security in and around the agency’s offices and warehouses nationwide,” NEMA said.
