A resident of Ilorin, Kwara State, with a tweet name @Adamthallith, has raised conerns on social media over the growing influence of self-proclaimed Islamic clerics, popularly referred to as “Alfas,” who allegedly promote the use of spiritual soaps for wealth and problem-solving.
@Adamthallith who made this in a tweet, drawing attention to individuals, accusing them of engaging in suspicious practices, with some linking their activities to ritual killings in the state.
Among those named are young Alfas in their 30s and 40s, including individuals known as “Lord of Soap” and “Ijoba Jalabi.”
Another, Assayuty, was reportedly heard boasting at a public event that he possessed spiritual soaps capable of destroying lives.
Another cleric allegedly encouraged people to buy special soaps from him, claiming they could ward off bad dreams and misfortune.
The most alarming revelation, however, involves an Alfa who was arrested 15 years ago for exhuming a child’s placenta after officiating a naming ceremony.
A search of his home allegedly uncovered human body parts, yet despite these grave accusations, he remains free and continues to operate openly in Ilorin. Many older residents, particularly those in their late 20s, recall the chilling incident, which happened in the Ogidi area of the city.

Despite the controversy surrounding these figures, they reportedly live in luxury and are frequently honored at social gatherings.
Their lavish lifestyles, funded by their spiritual activities, have raised suspicions about the true nature of their wealth.
Concerned citizens fear that as long as such individuals remain unchallenged, ritual killings and exploitative spiritual practices will continue to thrive in Ilorin.
Netizens are now calling on key Islamic and traditional authorities, including the Emir of Ilorin, the Chief Imam, the Mufti, and the Council of Ulamah, to take decisive action.
Many are demanding stricter monitoring of religious figures and an investigation into their activities to prevent further harm to society.
The growing outcry reflects a broader concern about the unchecked influence of individuals who exploit faith for personal gain.
