Well-meaning Nigerians have slammed Governor Peter Mbah for allegedly misleading the citizens of Enugu regarding a $100 million water project.
The project, which involves Wande Nexus, a company claimed to be owned by the governor, not by the Austrian firm as originally presented.
In a previous announcement, the Enugu State Government and Wande Nexus, a purported Austrian company, formalized an agreement for the Sustainable Last Mile Connectivity and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Project in Enugu.
The signing ceremony, which took place at the Government House in Enugu recently, was attended by Austrian Ambassador to Nigeria, Thomas Schlesinger.
The project aims to inject $100 million in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to modernize the water infrastructure in Enugu, improve service delivery, and ensure equitable access to clean water for all households in the city.
Governor Peter Mbah hailed the agreement as a significant example of cooperation between sub-sovereign and sovereign entities and emphasized that it marks a crucial step toward extending water access to every corner of Enugu City.
However, an X user, @MikaelCBernard, hinted via a tweet that the governor has only successfully diverted the state’s $100 million into Wande Nexus, a company he owned by proxy.

He posted, with his opinions, screenshots of the findings he carried out on the controversial company, Wande Nexus.
“I don’t know why Peter Mbah is deceiving himself and Ndi Enugu. Wande Nexus is Peter Mbah’s own proxy website, which he just launched 5 months ago.
“It’s not an Austrian company, they don’t have a registered entity there. Company wey no get registration number, how can that company have $100M to do water project?
“What’s the aim of these lies and propaganda? I’ve attached a photo of the plaza where a $100M is located, so you can see for yourself,” @MikaelCBernard tweeted.
