The Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has decried the need for competent leaders in the Nation as the current state of Nigeria portrays leaders blindfolded with corruption.
Obi made this known while delivering a Keynote address at the 6th Graduation Ceremony of Jesuit Memorial College, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He lamented how the leaders have become insensitive to the plight of the masses due to their corrupt nature.
In his words, ” With our nation continually losing its conscience to corruption and insensitivity to the plight of the masses, we need a new generation of competent leaders with proven character, compassion and commitment to society’s progress.
He added that Nigeria is a land blessed with resources to make life good for her inhabitants but sadly, failed leadership has put Nigeria in a bitter state.
Obi however stated that he looks forward to the graduating students to cause positive transformation to the Nation.
” Nigeria remains a blessed country, rich in human and natural resources, but only suffering from leadership failure. We, therefore, look forward to young ones like the graduating students, to leverage their education in learning and character, to cause a positive transformation of the nation,” he added.
