Nigerian Soldier Goes on Shooting Rampage, Kills Senior Officer Before Being Shot Dead by Colleagues

In a shocking incident within the Nigerian Soldier , Corporal James Kingsley unleashed chaos at the Forward Operational Base in Magami, Sokoto, on Sunday around 6:05 pm.

The rampage resulted in the tragic death of Second Lieutenant OC Ukachuckwu, a senior officer assigned to Team 3 for Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD).

According to military sources, Corporal Kingsley, from the 26th Battalion, opened fire on 2nd Lieutenant Ukachuckwu during the stand-to period 03NA/53/1572. The chaotic situation unfolded at Tango 2 FOB Magami, with Corporal Kingsley targeting not only his senior officer but also firing at other personnel present.

Swift intervention by fellow officers on the scene led to the fatal shooting of Corporal Kingsley.

The injured soldiers, caught in the crossfire, are reportedly in stable condition and are currently receiving medical attention.

The military signal, obtained by Saharareporters and signed by Major MD Mikaailu, provided details of the incident.

The military signal, stated, “While on stand-to period 03NA/53/1572, CPL James Kingsley from 26BN attached to Team 3 for OPHD fired 2LT OC Ukachukwu at Tango 2 FOB Magami. The soldiers went on firing everyone on sight, and he was gunned down by fellow soldiers present at the Tango. Both the late officer and soldier were rushed to Magami Gen Hosp where the officer was confirmed dead.”

The motive behind Corporal Kingsley’s violent actions remains unclear, as investigations into the incident are expected to unfold in the coming days.
