In a move to enhance the country’s defense capabilities, the Ministry of Defence is actively considering collaboration with NEANY, a prominent US military firm, to establish cutting-edge weapon production lines at the Defence Industry Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).
The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, embarked on a 2-day visit to NEANY to explore potential partnership areas aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s defense capabilities.
The disclosure came through a statement released on Saturday in Abuja by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence.
The primary focus of this collaboration is centered around the establishment of assembly lines for the production of advanced military equipment, with the objective of strengthening Nigeria’s efforts in addressing security challenges.
The initiative also aims to incorporate innovative technologies that will enhance the efficiency of the Nigerian military in dealing with contemporary security threats.
NEANY, a leading US military equipment manufacturing company, brings its expertise to the table, joining forces with DICON, a Nigerian government firm specializing in the production of military equipment and hardware.
During his visit, Minister Matawalle emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to advancing the capabilities of its armed forces to effectively respond to emerging security challenges.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward in reinforcing Nigeria’s defense infrastructure and fostering international partnerships to tackle the evolving landscape of security threats.
“The comprehensive tour of NEANY’s facilities, has provided me with an insights into cutting-edge military and intelligence hardware capabilities and high-tech equipment of the US.
“This tour marks a pivotal step in fostering collaboration and integrating cutting-edge military technologies to strengthen Nigeria’s defence capabilities.
“We are committed to President Bola Tinubu’s vision of modernising our armed forces to effectively address evolving security threats,” the minister added.
