In a groundbreaking move, Swiftship, a US military manufacturing company, has contributed two unmanned water vessels to Nigeria’s defense arsenal.
The S2 and S3 Swift Sea Stalkers, equipped with the latest technology, were formally handed over during a recent visit by Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
During the handover, Matawalle emphasized the strategic importance of these unmanned ships in fortifying Nigeria’s security efforts, particularly in the Niger Delta, Lake Chad region, and maritime zones. These cutting-edge vessels promise to play a pivotal role in combating insecurity on the nation’s waterways.
Matawalle who recently embarked on a working visit to the United States, where he explored partnerships with top-tier military hardware companies like NEANY, Swift Ships, and OCR Global.
Matawalle assured that the acquired capabilities, including a rapid deployment mobile RADAR system, an unmanned water vehicle, a drone ground control station, and a compact biometric search-scan system, would elevate Nigeria’s defense against insecurity.
