Osasu Obayiuwana, a British-Nigerian journalist, broadcaster and lawyer, has stated that Nigeria can conquer the world if only Nigerians, in Nigeria, can reach their full potential.
Obayiuwana, who said this on his verified X account, added that this is only achievable if Nigerians with inherent abilities do not have their lives stunted or totally ruined by a political system that keeps churning out vacuous robber barons as so-called ‘leaders’.
His post was in response to the remarkable feat achieved by a Nigerian researcher, Oluwatobi “Tobi” Oyinlola, who created the smallest GPS tracking device (prototype).
Oyinlola, a Nigerian scientist at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), created a device that’s just 22.93 mm x 11.92 mm (0.90 x 0.46 in) – tinier than a thumbprint.
The invention has excited STEM lovers around the world, as its functionality is applicable to small and large-scale systems, from medical microchips to animal tracking monitors, and for everyday use.
He has also been awarded a Guinness World Records title for the smallest GPS tracking device (prototype), and his record-setting work was praised by many around the world.
Nigeria is a country endowed with immense human potential, but irresponsible leadership holds it back from attaining great heights in the comity of nations.
