Popular activist Aisha Yesufu has praised Nigerians for their active participation in the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, despite facing opposition from security agencies.
On Saturday, Yesufu took to her official X platform to express her pride in the citizens who, she noted, defied security forces to make their voices heard.
The protests, which included a one-million-man march across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), marked the climax of the 10-day #EndBadGovernance demonstrations. The protesters called for several reforms, including the reinstatement of fuel subsidies.
However, the demonstrations turned violent in several states, including Kano, Plateau, Niger, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, and Borno. Reports indicate that at least 15 people have lost their lives, with many others injured and properties damaged.
Yesufu stated, “I am so proud of Nigeria citizens who defied the brutality of the Nigerian security agents and kept protesting.
“They showed they are Active Citizens not Slaves. May the souls of those killed continue to rest in peace,” she added.
