A 26-year-old Nigerian master’s student at Dundee University in Scotland, Simtochukwu Okwuoha, has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for making terrorist threats to bomb the institution.

The Perth Sheriff court handed down the sentence and ruled that Okwuoha, an international energy studies student, should be deported after serving his jail term.

In November, the BBC reported that Okwuoha was found guilty of seven charges, including making terrorist threats against the university, and was subsequently remanded in custody.

During the proceedings, Okwuoha claimed to have enlisted the support of ISIS, a terrorist organization, for the planned bombing of the university. He also communicated his intention to target the city with a chemical attack to university staff.
