JUST IN: Days After Nigerians’ Deportation, Tinubu Jets Out To Germany

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart for Berlin, Germany, on Saturday to attend the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) Conference scheduled for November 20, 2023.

This is coming after a group of Nigerian immigrants was deported from Germany last week on a charter flight, according to a German “Deportation Alarm” channel run by the “No Border Assembly,” as reported by Parallel Facts

The conference will be hosted by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and aims to foster economic and business cooperation among member countries.

Accompanying Tinubu on this mission are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar; the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mr. Wale Edun; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite; and the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

The announcement was made by Tinubu’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement released on Friday.

The delegation will participate in discussions with Heads of State and Government from CwA member countries, bilateral partners, and Heads of International Organizations.

The focus of the talks will center on enhancing economic and business ties, with a particular emphasis on boosting investments in critical sectors such as energy, trade, infrastructure, and new technologies.

Ngelale noted that the G20 CwA Conference will coincide with the Fourth G20 Investment Summit, co-hosted by the German government and German business associations.

Tinubu is expected to build on the momentum and advance Nigeria’s mission for increased foreign direct investment during his participation in the investment summit.

In October, Bola Tinubu emphasized the urgent need for more German companies to invest in Nigeria, particularly in sectors such as transportation, mining, and energy. Nigeria, as Germany’s second-largest trading partner in Africa, has witnessed a notable increase in bilateral trade volume from two to three billion Euros between 2021 and 2022.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria following the conclusion of the G20 Compact with Africa Conference.
