The Directors of Diaspora Engagement for the New Nigeria Project/Obidient Movement, Dr. David Ogula and Ms. Bolanle Emiabata-Anibaba, have called on Nigerians living abroad to remain active participants in the nation’s transformation efforts beyond election cycles.
In a recent statement, they emphasized that the fight to rebuild Nigeria is a continuous struggle that requires persistent engagement from the diaspora community.
During the last election, Nigerians in the diaspora played a crucial role in supporting the Obidient movement, demonstrating their commitment to a better Nigeria. However, with the election period over, many may question their continued involvement in the country’s affairs.

The directors insist that the battle against corruption, insecurity, poor governance, and lack of accountability must remain a priority, as these issues persist beyond election periods.
“The fight to salvage Nigeria is not seasonal, just as corruption, insecurity, and governance failures are not seasonal. The challenges that have long plagued our nation, corruption, political malfeasance, the subversion of the rule of law, lack of accountability, and poor leadership persist daily, affecting the lives of millions. Tolerating these dysfunctions is akin to living with a curable disease while refusing treatment.
“As Nigerians in the Diaspora, we are in a vantage position to drive change. We must not be passive bystanders. Instead, we must organize, define strategic goals, and forge partnerships with individuals and institutions in Nigeria that align with our vision for a just and prosperous nation.,” the statement read.

The call to action encourages Nigerians abroad to mobilize, strategize, and collaborate with individuals and institutions in Nigeria that align with their vision for a just and prosperous nation.
The directors stress that the diaspora community is in a unique position to drive change by advocating for good governance, transparency, and accountability, mirroring the standards they have experienced in their adopted countries.
“It is time for the Diaspora to mobilize, advocate, and contribute to nation-building by modeling the governance standards, transparency, and accountability we have experienced in our adopted countries. With unwavering faith, deliberate action, and a deep love for our homeland, we can chart a path toward the Nigeria we all desire.
“A new and prosperous Nigeria is possible, and it starts with us,”.
