The leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and its 2023 gubernatorial candidate in Jigawa State, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of increasing economic and social hardships in Nigeria.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Hadejia, Jigawa State, Ringim stated that citizens have endured enough suffering under the current government.
Ringim criticised several state government policies, particularly the newly launched citizens’ engagement programme, which he claimed does not effectively address the needs of the common man.

He argued that ordinary citizens should be allowed to voice their concerns, even if it goes against the government’s interests.
Ringim stated, “A common man should be allowed to speak his mind, even if it is against the government’s interest.”
Lamenting the increasing hardship, Ringim warned that many Nigerians have been reduced to beggars, struggling to survive. He called for urgent government action to improve citizens’ lives, stressing the importance of prioritising education, healthcare, job creation, and agricultural development
. According to him, improving these sectors would reduce poverty and crime rates, including theft, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
“The government must prioritise education, healthcare, job creation, and agricultural development. Every policy and programme should be designed to uplift the common man, with a serious commitment to effective implementation. If these sectors are improved, poverty will decrease, and so will crime, including theft, armed robbery, and kidnapping,” he added.
He also urged the electorate to reflect on their experiences under the current administration when making decisions in future elections.
