Nigerians Should Be Angry Over Hardship-PDP Chieftain Defends Amaechi

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, former National Publicity Secretary of the now-defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), has criticised the backlash against former Transportation Minister Chibuike Amaechi following his recent remarks about Nigeria’s economic difficulties.

In a recent interview, Amaechi expressed his frustration over the absence of youth protests against the high cost of living, saying, “People should be angry because you can’t just watch a group of people stealing your money without doing anything.”

Eze, a strong supporter of Amaechi, questioned the reactions from political figures like Omoyele Sowore, Bello Matawalle, and the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Felix Morka.

He argued that Amaechi’s comments echoed the real frustration experienced by many Nigerians, stating, “To any right-thinking Nigerian, Amaechi hasn’t made any mistake in his statement.”

Eze further emphasized the seriousness of the situation, pointing to the recent fuel price increases under Bola Tinubu’s administration, and questioned the government’s commitment to solving the country’s problems.

He remarked, “It is unpatriotic and grossly wicked that in the face of the hydra-headed challenges overwhelming Nigeria, APC and the Tinubu government expect the likes of Amaechi to be stocked like pieces of furniture.”

Eze further expressed concerns about the current administration’s lack of policy direction, urging the presidency to address the economic crisis rather than retaliate against critics.

“One would have loved to hear the presidency tell Nigerians the policy thrust of the administration in driving the country out of the current hardship,” he stated.
