Nigeria’s Problem Accumulated Leadership Failure Not Lack of Resources—Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has stated that the problem of Nigeria stems from a root of accumulated leadership failure and not lack of resources.

Obi made this outburst on Saturday where he delivered a Keynote Speech at the Installation of Rtn A. U. Nnonyelu as the District Governor of Rotary International at the International Convention Centre, Awka.

He revealed that failure in leadership has brought Nigeria to the point of having the highest number of homeless people globally, with over 130 million living below the poverty line.

In a post he shared on his X handle on Saturday, he wrote, “Today I was glad to deliver a Keynote Speech at the Installation of Rtn A. U. Nnonyelu as the District Governor of Rotary International at the International Convention Centre, Awka.

“I took the opportunity to re-echo my firm belief that Nigeria’s challenges are not due to a lack of resources but rather a severe leadership deficit in the country.”

Obi lamented that, “Despite Nigeria’s wealth of resources, the country’s global standing has continued to decline, primarily due to accumulated leadership failure over the years.

“This leadership failure has resulted in Nigeria having the highest number of homeless people globally, with over 130 million Nigerians living below the poverty line, a figure that has worsened significantly over the past eight years.”

Obi emphasized the need for a transformational leadership that will help address the issues facing Nigerians.

“There is therefore a need for transformational leadership to address these issues and steer Nigeria towards a more prosperous future.

“I emphasized the need for leaders to show commitment to national development by prioritizing the well-being of the people over personal gains, and I urged the Rotary community to be at the forefront of this leadership transformation in the country.”

Obi further congratulated the newly installed District Governor, Rtn Nnonyelu, and urged him to hold on to the vision of Rotary International which focuses on service to community, nation and humanity through local and global projects.
