NIS Probes Passport Office Over Alleged Misconduct

The Nigeria Immigration Service’s (NIS) acting comptroller general, Caroline Adepoju has launched an investigation into claims of misconduct made against NIS employees in several passport offices across the country.

The order was issued in response to complaints over violations of ministerial orders regarding the processing time for passport applications.

The NIS director voiced alarm over these alleged improper actions.

Applications for new passports to replace lost ones and for data changes, according to Adepoju, took longer to process.

She continued by saying that certain applicants in this category would damage the service’s reputation if they voiced complaints about delays and failure to adhere to the revised deadline.

“These applications are required to go through security clearance and correspondence with Service Headquarters before approval for production,” she said.

The head of NIS urged the general public to get in touch with the agency through its various public communication channels, including Twitter and Facebook accounts (@nigimmigration), as well as the contact centre at 09121900655, 09121556359, and 09121477092, in order to report any type of employee misconduct and request the necessary sanctions.
