NLC and OPS Clash Over Planned Nationwide

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is currently embroiled in a dispute with the Organised Private Sector (OPS) over a proposed nationwide strike. The NLC has expressed its disappointment with the OPS for opposing the strike, arguing that the economy cannot bear the brunt of a nationwide industrial action at this time.

The NLC has accused the OPS of opposing the strike because it wants to continue paying low wages to workers. The labour union believes that the OPS’s opposition to the strike is not in the best interest of the workers, who are demanding better pay and working conditions.

Furthermore, the NLC has raised concerns about alleged plans by some groups, suspected to be government agents, to sabotage their ongoing struggle for palliatives to cushion the negative effects of subsidy removal on petrol.

The NLC has vowed to resist any attempts to undermine their efforts and has called on all workers to remain steadfast and united in their demand for better wages and working conditions.
