In response to the recent brutalisation of its National President, Joe Ajaero, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in collaboration with Trade Union Congress (TUC) have jointly declared a nationwide strike, scheduled to commence on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
According to a report by Nairametrics, the decision to mobilise workers nationwide came after an extraordinary National Executive Council meeting held in Abuja, which took place on a Tuesday.
The labour unions have already initiated the mobilisation of their members and supporters for the impending strike action.
The attack on NLC National President, Joe Ajaero, occurred last week in Imo, specifically in Owerri, the state’s capital.

This incident has ignited widespread outrage within the organised labour community, with allegations of complicity leveled against Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde.
