NLC Commends Workers’ Compliance As Strike Enters Day 2

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commended all affiliates and state councils for their solidarity and compliance with the directive to commence a nationwide strike in the early hours of Tuesday.

In a statement, NLC lauded the workers for their resoluteness and determination, which ensured a complete shutdown of workplaces and saw workers staying at home.

The union also noted that the unity and single-mindedness displayed in implementing the resolution have effectively countered those who anticipated a different outcome.

According to the union, a higher than expected level of compliance on the first day of action was revealed.

The anticipated gaps on the first day were said to be surprisingly minimal.

The NLC’s National Executive Council (NEC) also saluted the workers for their doggedness and for exceeding expectations on the first day of the strike.

It urged them to maintain this momentum as they enter the second day of the strike and to continue the mobilization until the government meets their demands.

The union remains committed to the success of this action, which aims to hold the government accountable for its use of violent abduction and brutality as a tool in workplace engagement.
