The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kebbi State Council, has commended Governor Nasir Idris for the effective distribution of palliatives across the state. This initiative has led to a significant decrease in the prices of foodstuffs throughout the state.
The Chairman of the NLC, Kebbi State Council, Alhaji Murtala Usman, expressed his appreciation in a letter dated Oct. 19, addressed to the governor. He noted that the distribution of palliatives has resulted in a drop in food prices in local markets.
The union said that the prices of foodstuffs in the state have gone down because of the palliative distribution. This was stated by Ahmed Idris, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in a statement he issued in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.
He quoted the letter of appreciation from the Kebbi chairman of the NLC, Murtala Usman, to the governor. The letter was dated October 19 and it read in part:
“We are very grateful to Your Excellency for the successful flag-off and distribution of palliatives to both civil servants and general citizens of Kebbi State. The palliatives distribution has helped to reduce the impact of subsidy removal and improve the economic situation of households in Kebbi. We thank you once more for the effective distribution mechanism of the palliatives by your administration. We pray for Allah’s protection and guidance for you.”
