NNPP Kaduna Guber Candidate Hunkuyi, Former National Chairman Alkali, Defect To APC

The Gubernatorial Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the March 18 election in Kaduna State, Senator Sulaiman Othman Hunkuyi, and the party’s former National Chairman, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali, have officially switched their allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling political party.

Their formal induction into the APC took place on Tuesday and was presided over by the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje.

In addition to Alkali and Hunkuyi, Prof. Bem Angwe, the former national legal adviser of the NNPP, and 23 other individuals from both the NNPP and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) also made the transition to the APC.

Alkali, speaking on behalf of the group of defectors, emphasized that their decision to join the APC was not solely due to its status as the ruling party but rather because they believe it offers them the most effective platform for achieving their political goals and making progress.

“The good news we are bringing to you and to the APC today is that we are here just as representatives of the multitude of hundreds of thousands of our supporters, friends, associates, and well-wishers within the NNPP and PDP nationwide who were earnestly waiting for this historic day,” he said.

In his reply, Ganduje asserted that the NNPP had been taken over and influenced by a group known as Kwankwassiya.

The APC’s national chairman committed to ensuring that defectors are provided with equal opportunities and are actively involved in the party’s activities.
