“No Kobo Was Paid’, Police Confirm Release Of Kidnapped Medical Students

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the release of 20 medical students and other individuals who were abducted in Benue State

In a statement made by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, on his X handle, said that the victims, who were held in the Ntunkon forest in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, were rescued on Friday by the Office of the National Security Adviser without any ransom being paid.

The statement read, “No ransom was paid, contrary to some tweets and unverified reports suggesting otherwise.

The victims were rescued through tactical and professional efforts.”News of the students’ abduction surfaced in the media last Friday, prompting widespread condemnation from Nigerians concerned about the rising incidence of kidnapping in the country.

Parallelfacts, earlier reported after the abduction, that their captors contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of ₦50 million for their release.
