Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia North has stated that the opposition coalition formed to challenge Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections is not what Nigerians need at this time.
Speaking on Tuesday at his country home in Igbere, Kalu emphasized that Nigerians are more concerned about economic recovery and access to food than political alliances.

He asserted that what the country truly needs is a leader capable of revitalizing the economy, not political coalitions.
Kalu expressed support for Tinubu, praising his performance so far and insisting that he deserves a second term.
He argued that the Tinubu’s achievements will be enough to secure his re-election in 2027, regardless of any opposition alliance.
While acknowledging the widespread hunger and hardship in the country, Kalu maintained that Tinubu is actively addressing the issues through policies like the naira stabilization program and other economic initiatives.
“People are saying that they are building coalition. That is not what the people want.

“The masses need need a concrete evidence that the economy can be rebuilt, that there would be food on the table of every Nigerian. President Bola Tinubu is addressing the hunger in the land,” Kalu said.
He dismissed suggestions that his recent visit to Governor Alex Otti could lead to his suspension from the All Progressives Congress (APC), clarifying that the meeting was a private affair and not an endorsement of the governor’s potential candidacy for 2027.
The former Governor of Abia State also expressed concern over the activities of vandals stealing electricity cables and other public infrastructure in parts of Abia North.
He assured the public that he is currently in discussions with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to help restore power across several affected communities in the zone.
Kalu further emphasized that there is no rift between him and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.
However, he called on the Deputy Speaker to publicly clarify whether he intends to contest the Abia State governorship in 2027.
