The Labour Party candidate of the Edo governorship election, Olumide Akpata has advised voters to ignore rumours and claims that he has stepped down from the electoral race.
This development was made known in a post on X by a twitter user, Search Ibrahim.
His post reads, Disclaimer: This Is To Inform The General Public That The Labour Party Edo State Governorship Candidate Has not stepped down from the race.
“The reports, or statements suggesting that Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party has stepped down from the election are completely false and are rumours being spread by Parties who have failed to put the Edo People First and know for certain that the people of Edo State would be massively voting for Olumide Akpata in the elections tomorrow.
“The Labour Party and its candidate remain fully committed to the electoral process and are actively participating in the race to bring about positive change and progress to Edo State.

“Any information to the contrary is a deliberate attempt to misinform the public, create confusion, and undermine the Party and our candidate’s resolve to serve the people of Edo State.”
Voters, supporters, stakeholders, and the public at large were charged to disregard any false claims or rumors as the Labour Party and its candidate Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata are standing firm in the race, and dedicated to the principles of transparency, good governance, and the betterment of Edo State.
“Furthermore, we advise that all information regarding the status of the Labour Party candidate should be obtained only from official party channels and verified sources. We remain confident in our candidate and in our ability to win this election with a landslide victory. EDO WILL BE OK,” the post added.
