Socio-political activist, Reno Omokri, has once again directed criticism towards Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, accusing him of neglecting to acknowledge positive developments in Nigeria.
Omokri’s comments came in the wake of the Nigerian currency’s recent appreciation against the US dollar.
In a tweet on his official handle on Sunday, Omokri urged Nigerians to celebrate the modest recovery of the local currency, highlighting that the naira has shown improvement in its exchange rate against the dollar.
According to Omokri, the naira is currently trading at ₦1610 to $1 in both the official and parallel markets, marking a gain of ₦6.
Omokri stated, “The floated Naira continues to appreciate at both the official and parallel markets. It gained ₦6 and is trading at ₦1610 to $1. Let us celebrate small progress like this. Do you know why? Because enemies of Nigeria will celebrate and overflow negativity.
“Take Peter Obi, for example. He will not tweet when the Naira gains value. He will not post when the Nigerian Stock Exchange becomes the most profitable on Earth.

“He will be missing when our GDP grows by 3.4% in the latest NBS data. You won’t see him when it is reported that our oil imports have reduced by 50%.”
“But let something remotely negative occur and Obi will bring out his megaphones and start singing, ‘Go Tell It On The Mountains,” he added.
