Oluremi Tinubu has blamed religious leaders, Nollywood, social media, and other platforms for fueling the get-rich-quick mentality among Nigerian youths.
Speaking at the 2025 International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) event in Abuja on Thursday, she expressed concerns about how these platforms often glorify wealth without emphasizing the hard work required to attain success.
She stated, “The get-rich-quick syndrome being fueled by Nollywood, social media, and other entertainment platforms is misleading many of our youths. They now believe wealth can be acquired without hard work, patience, or integrity.”
Remi emphasized the need for value reorientation, urging parents, educators, and religious leaders to teach young people the importance of diligence, ethical conduct, and perseverance.

She also called on content creators and filmmakers to promote positive narratives that encourage hard work, saying, “We must ensure that the messages we pass to our young ones instill morals, integrity, and diligence rather than glorifying illegal means of making money.”
She further reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths with skills and opportunities that will enable them to achieve success through legitimate means.
“Our administration is focused on creating opportunities that will engage and empower the youth. We will continue to support initiatives that promote education, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship,” she added.
The event, which was attended by government officials, civil society organizations, and international partners, also highlighted the ongoing fight against harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation.#Remi Tinubu
